Digital Production BuZZ

Aug 12, 2011

Join host Larry Jordan and co-host Michael Horton as they talk with:

Dan Kneece, Director of Photography

Dan Kneece was taught how to use the Steadicam by Garrett Brown, himself. That was 28 years ago. Since then, Dan has worked on more TV and feature films than he can track. Along the way, he’s won major industry awards and been president of the Society of Camera Operators for four years. Recently, he switched careers to become a Director of Photography, which lead him to Africa where he was filming lions on the plains of the Serengeti in Africa.

Robert Sharp, President, DigiEffects

Robert Sharp, president of DigiEffects, has some exciting news for us. Except they aren’t talking about it till next week. So, since we have zero patience, we twisted his arm to join us this week and give us the inside scoop on their new announcements. If creating effects are your reason for living, you’ll want to hear what Robert has to say… though, not in a way you might expect!

Grant Burton, Editor, Royal Australian Air Force

Grant Burton is an editor for the Royal Australian Air Force; and, probably, the most active voice on the Live Chat about the Buzz each week! He’s just completed four significant projects using Final Cut Pro X and we wanted to talk with him about his experience. Also, he recently attended SMPTE 2011 in Sydney, which is a major tech show Down Under. He has some interesting commentary on the future of video on demand over the Internet that has a potential impact on all of us.

Phil Storey, Co-founder and CEO, XenData, Inc.

Phil Storey, co-founder and CEO of XenData, recently launched XenData 6 Server and will be announcing an updated digital video archive system at IBC 2011 in Amsterdam in a few weeks. Since archiving is still the Achilles’ heel of post-production, we want to talk with Phil about his new products and where they fit into the post-production workflow. We are also interested in their portfolio of LTO-based archive systems.
