Digital Production BuZZ

Jul 15, 2011

Last week, we looked at the challenges and advantages about switching from Apple Final Cut Pro to Avid Media Composer. This week, we look at switching to Adobe Production Premium, which includes Premiere Pro. Join host Larry Jordan as he talks with:

Al Mooney, Product Manager of Professional Video Editing, Adobe Systems, Inc.

Al Mooney has a deep background in video editing. He is currently the product manager for professional video editing at Adobe Systems. He is responsible for defining, delivering, and supporting the overall feature set and functionality of Adobe Premiere Pro. Prior to this position, he was the senior business development manager for video and broadcast in the UK for Adobe. Before that he worked for Apple as a Pro Video business development manager, and before that for DigiDesign (part of Avid Technology) as a European sales specialist. With all the current discussion about whether switching from Apple’s Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere Pro makes sense, we thought we’d go right to the source. Be sure to join us during the live chat to get your questions answered.

Bruce Gee, President, GeeThree

Bruce Gee is founder of GeeThree, maker of the Slick FX plug-ins for Final Cut. GeeThree has been producing video plug-ins for the last 10 years. PhotoMotion is their latest plug-in that makes it “dead simple” to create a pan and zoom animation from still images. This week, we talk with Bruce about PhotoMotion and the process of developing plugins for editing software.

Jawad Mir, Owner and Creative Director, Film-Style Weddings.

Creative entrepreneur Jawad Mir balances two prospering cinematography businesses: Sky-Blue Productions and Film-Style Weddings. Jawad travels the world to cover destination weddings, create inspired wedding videos, and customize photo shoots, albums, and prints. For driving artistic innovation and quality, Mir was an early adopter of Canon DSLR cameras—he was also a long-time Final Cut Pro user. But when Final Cut Pro started holding him back, Jawad switched to Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 software.
