Digital Production BuZZ

Dec 3, 2010

Join host Larry Jordan and our team of reporters live at GV Expo 2010 for this special Expo edition of The Buzz.

J.J. Smith is the new Editor of Government Video Magazine and is here as the official host and master of ceremonies for GV Expo 2010. He’s been very impressed with the roster of innovative products being shown from the camera companies, the high quality of speakers and he is also very pleased to have new products that will be deployed into combat zones to help keep our troops safe.

Debbie Sweany is the Sales Manager for WhisperRoom Incorporated. This is her third year at the Expo demonstrating their very effective sound isolation enclosures. Might help with the ambient sound on the trade show floor. In fact, we’ll show you the difference during this interview.

David Walton, Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communication for JVC’s Professional Products division discusses JVC’s newest products, as well as their real-time system for converting existing 2D into 3D video.

When you think of Autocue, you probably think “teleprompter.” But Autocue makes a wide range of inexpensive gear for the professional videographer; from lighting, to tripods, to steadicams. Aaron Brady, managing director for Autocue, tells us about their products and what makes them different.

Kyle Dann, Product Specialist from Anton Bauer is showing a new gold-mount bracket for the Canon HDSLR cameras. While Anton Bauer has been a leader in the battery platform for many years, they also produce a wide range of other camera gear, as we discover in this interview.

3D and Virtual Technology are hot right now and one of the companies in the middle of it is Hybrid. We spoke with Gary Attanasio, the Director of Business Development for Hybrid, to learn more about what virtual technology is.

CEI (Communications Engineering Inc.) is both a reseller and a system integrator. Systems integrators assemble gear from a variety of vendors to create in installation for a client. In this interview Phil Whitebloom, VP of Sales and Marketing for CEI, explains a brand-new one-person camera package designed for docs and news-gathering.

With the increased emphasis on security, it’s no surprise that one of the exhibitors at GV Expo specializes in surveillance. The company is Cobham and Joe Bonacetti is their Federal Sales Manager. He describes some new wireless gear that allows on-the-fly wireless networking and media called “IP Mesh”.

Pond 5 is a web-based marketplace for stock image, video, and audio. And the reason that Pond 5 is at GV Expo, as their CEO, Tom Bennett, explains is to increase their visibility. The key reason behind this is that Pond 5 is a marketplace, which makes them different from other stock houses.

Avid has a vast range of products that appeal to video editors. We spoke with Sam Bogoch, Director of Design for Avid’s Interplay media asset management system, for a quick comparative look between their product and others on the market.

David Lemonte-Shepherd, President of Cabletime USA, is at GV Expo to meet with DC-based integrators and to show their new digital products for IP TV and Digital Signage. For the last 30 years, Cabletime has been providing greater and more effective ways to deliver both media content and emergency messaging systems to their clients in the UK and Europe as in the last 10 years in the United States.

For the third year in a row, Digital Production Buzz is very pleased to be the official podcast of Government Video Expo!
